Not getting sales is tough. We’ve been there, we understand.
I distinctly remember saying to Bibi, “I think the ceiling on Etsy is about $1000/mo.” I was disillusioned, fatigued and second-guessing the path we were on.
Make Work Projects
Sometimes it feels like there are a million things to do. When the list gets too long, we tend to freeze up, and our productivity goes way down.
Worse yet, we start making up small jobs that are easy to accomplish quickly, but do they need to be done?
Or are we just trying to look and feel busy?
You’re working for yourself now, no need to pretend to be working. (sorry to my past employers)
We have a solution for this. We didn’t invent this technique; it’s something we learned along the way. (It might be a Warren Buffett technique, not sure)
Make a List
Grab yourself a piece of paper and a pen and make a list of all the activities that need to be done.
Try to make a list of at least 20+ items. Once you’ve brainstormed all the tasks, review the list.
Focus on Money-Making Activities
Ask yourself, “Does this activity make us money?”
Now, pick the top 5 most essential items from the list. Until you complete these 5 activities, you will completely ignore the rest of the list.
You will only work on those 5 activities. (be very rigid, don’t cheat) Nothing else matters.
Suggestions
Everyone has different issues they need to resolve, various activities they need to complete.
If you need some further assistance prioritizing your list, here are my suggestions.
We’ve talked in-depth about Product Pictures, Etsy SEO and Promoted Listings in previous articles. Please use the links above to read more on each of these subjects.
Once you have your store set, optimized with beautiful pictures, descriptive titles and copy, you want to start focusing on outside traffic.
The best use of your time to generate outside traffic to your Etsy shop is, without a doubt, Pinterest.
Pinterest and Etsy, BFFs Forever
Of course, we’ve also talked lots about Pinterest in the past, but we’ll touch again on this vital traffic source.
Step 1: make beautiful pins.
Don’t gloss over this step. Creating pins should be at the top of your daily to-do list. Don’t just throw together a pin and say, “that’s good enough.”
It’s not good enough. You need to focus and realize, if you truly want success, you have to bring it. Your pins have to kick ass.
If you can’t make incredible pins, go to Fiverr and hire someone to do it.
If the first person doesn’t deliver, try again. Don’t settle. Beautiful pins are the foundation of a successful marketing campaign.
Step 2: use Tailwind Tribes
You can thank me later.
Plan, Focus and Execute
The main point of this article is to pick the 5 most important tasks from your long to-do list, set your intention and execute.
Just do it! Don’t talk about doing it. Just do it!
